Lovell Chen’s Jewel Box project is the subject of a case study in the Heritage Council of Victoria’s new online guide, developed to assist homeowners renovating or creating a home in a heritage building.
The guide, which is called At Home with Heritage: a considered approach to renovating your house, includes 12 case studies. The idea is to “provide inspiration and demonstrate how good design and cultural heritage awareness can support the heritage values of a place while also providing a contemporary liveable home”.
The guide is a “practical starting point, explaining the concepts of heritage value and significance, the opportunities and challenges that may be encountered and the design questions that need to be considered along the way.” It also includes an overview of the heritage processes and procedures in Victoria.
We are delighted that the Jewel Box house is included as an exemplary project.
