Lovell Chen’s heritage asset management service focuses on the development of strategies for the recognition and integration of heritage issues in property and asset management systems.

Examples of such systems include those managed by organisations with large property portfolios, numerous dispersed or combined assets, and large or complex buildings.

Our service delivers practical solutions for the implementation of strategies, and our consultants are experienced in helping organisations meet statutory requirements.

At a national level, statutory obligations are governed by the Environment Protection & Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999. At state and territory level there are differing approaches. In Victoria, the Victorian Government Cultural Heritage Asset Management Principles apply.

Generally, the strategy development process involves the identification of heritage values for the place or places, the compilation of a list of assets and the development of procedures and protocols. The results are designed to be embedded in a client’s project management systems, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice. The focus is on heritage place management and advance planning. Many strategies are designed to be delivered over time.
