Lovell Chen provides a range of masterplanning and placemaking services with a focus on sites with complex heritage issues. Often initiated as part of a redevelopment or a significant use change, our projects have included planning for major infrastructure and institutional sites, heritage property portfolios and individual structures and landscapes. Outcomes range from programmes for capital works and maintenance to wholesale adaptation and reuse.
Our integrated in-house team of architects and heritage consultants bring a nuanced understanding of place — both physical and cultural — that allows us to reimagine existing environments, unlocking latent potential and enhancing their function and relevance.
Community engagement and co-design are fundamental to our process, leading to inclusive, contextually responsive and sustainable outcomes. We work on projects that occupy land that was never ceded by Traditional Owners. Through our Reconciliation Action Plan and engagement with our clients’ own reconciliation efforts, we seek collaborative relationships with First Nations communities to achieve culturally appropriate outcomes.
