MILICA TUMBAS
Associate Director Milica Tumbas is an architect with more than 25 years' experience
in contemporary design and the adaptive re-use of historic buildings. She joined
Lovell Chen in 1995 and since then has designed, documented and administered
some of the most complex projects in the practice's portfolio,
which combine new and heritage architecture.

She leads multi-disciplinary teams, coordinating
delivery of a diverse range of projects in various sectors, including public, institutional, cultural and tertiary education buildings. She has extensive experience in the design and documentation of residential projects, including additions and alteration work.
Milica has worked on projects large and small.
An example of recent large-scale work is the multi-million dollar refurbishment and conversion of RMIT University's
BUILDING 13, the former Emily McPherson College in Melbourne, which dates from 1926. Working as project architect, she took charge of all phases of the complex work to create a suitable home for the university's post graduate School of Business, from schematic design to completion.
On a more modest scale scale are the
Melbourne University Boatshed extension
on the banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne, and the reconstruction of St Kilda Pier's much-loved Edwardian timber
KIOSK, which was destroyed by fire in 2004. Other recent architectural projects include the upgrade of Melbourne's
CAULFIELD STATION and the new
PORT MELBOURNE LIBRARY.
She is as adept with heritage conservation projects as she is with new architecture and the refurbishment of existing buildings. Her work in the heritage conservation field has included façade works for Melbourne's World Heritage listed
ROYAL EXHIBITION BUILDING and conservation works at Royal Arcade and St Michael's Uniting Church,
both Melbourne city-centre landmarks.
