Our role on these projects is as specialist subconsultant responsible for the historical heritage study area as part of larger technical advisor teams supporting planning and approvals processes. Lovell Chen’s heritage consultants, historians, architects and landscape specialists follow rigorous methodologies and procedures to provide expert advice.

Generally, the process involves the assessment and documentation of heritage places and values. This may include consideration of design alternatives and proposed mitigation and management measures. The environmental impact assessment is often undertaken through the Environmental Effects Statement (EES) process in Victoria, or alternative procedures under the Planning and Environment Act 1987.

Our service forms part of an integrated environmental assessment process. Effective liaison with wider project teams and a range of other technical specialists — including archaeologists, Aboriginal cultural heritage advisors and experts in arboriculture, ground movement and construction vibration — is key.
