Station Street / Normanby Avenue, Caulfield East, Melbourne
client Metro Trains, Melbourne
Caulfield Station is a busy commuter railway station,
9km from the Melbourne's central business district. Lovell Chen designed, documented and oversaw construction work for its upgrade.
This is the first project in Metro Trains Melbourne's Bringing Stations
to Life initiative. The main aims were to improve safety and connections with other transport systems, and to integrate an environmentally responsive design within the existing heritage-listed station fabric.
Work included the construction of a new café building and associated landscaping works, as well as minor alterations to the existing historic station building on Platform 4 to facilitate the development of DDA-compliant facilities.
